Today was only the 2nd time I have actually done it all from start to finish......from the making of the dough to the steaming pot of noodles in freshly boiled chicken broth......and I have to say it was quite and experience for my soul.......
I remembered times as a child when my mother would let me cut the noddles after they dried and me begging her to let me drop them into the boiling broth. She would say "Now make sure you stir so they don't stick together" :)
Then there was the time when we had to leave the house for awhile and we left the noddles to dry on the table as usual.......only this time we returned to find little paw prints scampering across the lot of them! Mom was so mad.......she was determind to not waste the noodles so she just simply cut the the paw prints out in squares and we ate them anyways! Noodles are too much work to waste over paw prints!!
Some of my favorite memories surrounding the simple meal of pots of chicken and homemade noodles and mashed potatoes (you cant eat one without the other!) are the times that meal brought our whole family together at grandma and grandpa Harger's house. I miss those times so much. I can still see every detail in my head. They way the house smelled while the food was cooking, my aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles and cousins all talking and laughing, grandma Harger in front of the sink peeling the POUNDS of potatoes and grandpa sitting in "his" chair just watching it all.
Yes, I never knew a noddle could make me feel so much in just the time it took to flour and roll out the dough........Thanks Mom, Nana, grandma Harger and grandma English..........Thanks for homemade noodles......

Oh Wow, I think I got tears in my eyes reading this! Yes, the noodles certainly bring back memories of precious times gone by. The thought of my daughter and daughter-in-law carrying on the tradition warms my heart! Thats the wonderful thing about family traditions, they are the threads that connect one generation to another. Thanks for the noodles, Stacey!
Love,
Mom
I have to agree with you! The funny thing is that even though we are hundreds of miles away from each other we still think alike sometimes. I made chicken and noodles two weeks ago, Ashley made them the next week, and neither one of us knew the other had made them, so I guess we all had noodles on the brain!!! I also thought about getting together at Grandma & Grandpa Hargers and so I had to go down memory lane and tell Clint all about how wonderful it was to be with family and have good comfort food!! ~LaRisha
Awwww Risha thats great!! Didnt know you read my blog. Glad you do!
